The Inspiration behind real career talk

This site was inspired by my own uncertainty that I was taking the right path – as I knew I would be spending a lot of time working throughout my life, and I wanted to channel my energy and time into a career that was meaningful to me. In my pursuit to bring together the life I wanted to live, my passions, and my education, I was disappointed when I could not find a one-stop solution that could show me the options I had. It seemed as though all career guidance was either a) expensive, b) required a specific keyword to begin the search, c) returned similar pop-ups (that someone most likely paid for to call attention to certain roles), d) required completing surveys that were hundreds of questions long in order to generate a fixed list of results that I did not find appealing, or e) required knowing someone with an influential voice that could direct you toward a specific career paths, at least to the extent of roles and companies that they knew about it.

Throughout my pursuit to bring passion and inspiration to my work, I met countless others who felt the same concerns and frustrations – all looking for a simple, one stop place to explore and follow up on career options. I grew to not only want REAL options but also to want REAL perspective on both the roles and the employers. I felt recruiters’ jobs were to talk up their companies, but many of my friends had found out the rosy promises were not all that simple after actually working for the company. I wanted REAL talk about what it is like to work for a company or in a specific role from an employee who was not trying to recruit me to work there.

I believe we all deserve to be happy in our careers, so I designed RealCareerTalk.com to easily share REAL information from the perspective of someone currently in a specific role and at a specific company of interest. I hope that by adding more honesty and transparency (about job demands, job qualifications, how employers help their employees, etc.) that REAL perspective will also help the recognize the best companies to work for, so those companies can continue to attract the most talented workers out there.

So why the clouds? Clouds are always changing, and every one of us sees them differently – just as we will each see the roles on the Real Career Talk platform differently. The wind changes clouds, just as time changes our career perspectives and needs.

Real Career Talk is designed to offer your the opportunity to envision your own future. It can be an idea generator for career planning or a sounding board for career changes – based upon your needs. You may see roles here you never considered before – some of interest and many others you may want to pass by – but I hope that you are able to gain from Real Career Talk an understanding of your career options, the qualifications and/or steps necessary to work toward your desired goals, and a better perspective on different employers, so that you feel happy with yourself, while bringing passion and innovation in your work and to the rest of the world.

The only thing I ask for in return is that you are fair and honest in your discussions, and that you share the site with all your friends and family, so we can help others across the globe define new paths of passion and innovation – focusing on one individual at a time.

Happy Exploring!
